Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is an irreversible, progressive brain disorder that slowly destroys memory and thinking skills, and, eventually, the ability to carry out the simplest tasks. In most people with Alzheimer’s, symptoms first appear in their mid-60s. Alzheimer’s is the most common cause of dementia among older adults. There is a rapid growth in the number of people living with AD, and only around one in four people with the disease get diagnosed. It is estimated that there are approximately 44 million people worldwide living with AD or a related form of dementia. The prevalence of AD in Iran was estimated 2.3%.
Researchers in IMP tried to introduce a new herbal formula to prevent and/manage AD. MELITROPIC was born in 2018, over a decade of investigations. MELITROPIC contains oral capsules standardized by 400 mg of the extract of Melissa officinalis L. (lemon balm). MELITROPIC is beneficial for patients with mild to moderate AD and is able to attenuate agitation experienced by these patients.
